Venetia serves as Vice President of Operations and Compliance for CVI. She is responsible for company-wide management of customs services, regulatory compliance, compliance consulting and Norfolk operations.
After graduating summa cum laude from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in history, Ms. Huffman began her career in transportation as an import/export clerk with the Norfolk, Va., office of Bemo Shipping Co. Inc. She obtained her customhouse brokers license in 1985. Bemo Shipping was later acquired by MSAS Global Logistics and Huffman was promoted to Branch Manager. Later serving as Operations Manager for the Norfolk office of DHL-Danzas, she was selected as part of the “Best Practices” brokerage training team. She started her employment with CVI in 2003 as Branch Operations Manager and was promoted to Vice President in 2006.
Huffman has served multiple terms on the Board of the Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association of Virginia (CBIFFA) and has been certified by the NCBFAA as a customs specialist. She is regularly invited to lecture as an adjunct educator at Old Dominion University, speaks frequently at industry events and her comments and editorials have been published by various local and national trade publications.
