Slaughter has covered the furniture industry for 23 years. He rejoined Furniture Today in January 2015, where his coverage responsibilities include logistics and retail finance. He began his furniture journalism career in 1995 at Furniture Today, eventually becoming case goods editor. In 2005, he joined Home Furnishings Business magazine, where he covered all aspects of furniture retail operations.
He has won awards for furniture industry coverage from the American Home Furnishings Alliance. He also led the Furniture team that won the Jesse H. Neal Award, the “Pulitzer” of business journalism, for coverage of the anti-dumping petition against wood bedroom furniture from China and the ensuing investigation.
